OWNER`S STORY
Kerttu was born in a small town of Estonia and moved to New York in 2011. She grew up surrounded by the arts and also worked as a contortionist. Years of high intensity exercise, dancing and working as a contortionist put a toll on her body at some point. Kerttu had a very serious back injury that suddenly limited her ability to move. Having gone from an active lifestyle to almost zero movement really forced Kerttu to start listening to herself and her body. Through rehabilitation she was introduced to Pilates. It changed her life! Kerttu started to learn about a healthy and conscious way of moving that helped her to rebuild a deeper connection between the mind and body.
Shortly thereafter practicing pilates, she was able to move better with little or no discomfort. Even though Kerttu was suffering under terrible pains every day for over a year, she is thankful to have found such a passion in her life.
After living and working in New York for 8 years, traveling for guest teaching and leading workshops, Kerttu decided to bring her practice to Boulder, Colorado. After few years of living in Boulder, she saw the opportunity to create something new and incredible. With the tremendous support of her clients, she put together an amazing team and the rest is history…
STORY BEHIND THE NAME Care·To Pilates
Kerttu had always had trouble explaining her exotic name in the American culture. The easiest way to teach people to say her name was to say “do you care to grab coffee”, “Do you care to go for a hike?”, “Do you care to do pilates?” etc. After having established that connection, she thought it was a fun take on the caring side of the word while also keeping a deep connection with Kerttu’s roots from Estonia.
